After nearly a year of reconstruction, Tantra, formerly known as Tantra Coffeehouse and located at 217 W. Hopkins St., will be reopening its doors this October in San Marcos after closing in February 2020 due to COVID-19.

A closer look

The whole house has been remodeled from the ground up, including the releveling of the foundation, a stage for live music and an extra bathroom. High level insulation was also added along with new electric, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning systems.

"It just needed a lot of love," owner Jeff Colasurd said.

A wrap around porch and full-size walk-up window were also added for outdoor service.

Aside from the reconstruction, Tantra has also revamped its food menu to include salads, sandwiches, tacos and shareable snacks along with other cafe food fare items.

What they're saying

Tantra General Manager Adam Lilley said they were looking forward to being open again.

"We're just so excited to bring it back but without all the physical obstacles that made it difficult before," Lilley said.
