St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is expected to open its new $53.1 million renovation and expansion by the end of the month.

As part of the expansion, the hospital added a new 34-bed Intermediate Care Unit with the completion of its vertical tower, growing its capacity to 209 beds. Located on the fifth floor, the unit is meant for patients who need frequent monitoring for complex medical or surgical conditions.

The expansion is part of a nearly $1 billion investment into Central Texas’s health care infrastructure, according to the provider. It also comes after the hospital expanded its emergency room, completing a seven-bed expansion in July 2023.
