Intermittent lane closures to facilitate maintenance on Sam Bass Road began July 28 and will run through late August.

What's happening

Round Rock crews are working to complete road work on Sam Bass Road through its arterial maintenance program. Crews are working in sections on the roadway between its intersections with I-35 and Old Settlers Boulevard, necessitating daily closures along the two-lane roadway. Closures will occur from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and include flagging operations to guide traffic.

In case you missed it

City officials in April approved a contract for $6.5 million in arterial street maintenance. The streets up for repair are Greenlawn Boulevard, Double Creek Drive, Sam Bass Road, Cypress Boulevard, McNeil Road, Sundance Parkway, La Frontera Boulevard, Parker Drive and Short Trail. The contract will be paid entirely via the $0.005 of the sales tax rate set aside by the city for the Round Rock Transportation and Economic Development Corp.

About the program

This is part of the city's annual effort to manage more than 1,150 miles of roadway within its jurisdiction, and the maintenance projects will be carried out over the next year. The city approved similar plans for streets located in its downtown district earlier in the month.
