Residents of Round Rock ISD cast ballots in the Nov. 5 election to determine which candidate will serve on the board of trustees in Place 1 for the next four years.
The specifics
Unofficial polling information from early voting shows incumbent Chuy Zaráte garnered 56.19% of early ballots cast, representing 37,072 votes. Challenger Joshua Escalante received 43.81% of early ballots cast, representing 28,905 votes.
About the candidates
Zaráte is an actor, teacher and corporate trainer who was first elected to the board of trustees in 2022 to fill a seat vacated by Jun Xiao, and told Community Impact school funding was among his priorities for a potential second term on the board, as well as the retention of talented teachers.
Escalante is a project manager whose priorities include holding the board accountable to its constituents, as well as striving for transparency and supporting teachers and staff.
