Round Rock ISD announced Jan. 30 that any after-school activities occurring that day are now canceled due to inclement weather.

Shortly after, the district also announced a closure of all campuses and offices for Jan. 31, paired with the cancelation of classes and extracurricular activities.

The National Weather Service placed several central Texas counties, including Williamson County, under a severe winter storm warning around 1 p.m. Jan. 30, that is in effect until noon Feb. 1. The warning predicts that ice accumulation up to three-quarters of an inch may be possible in the hill country and Austin metro area, with possible power outages and hazardous travel.

Those who must travel while this warning is in place are encouraged to bring flashlights, food and water in case of an emergency.
