The Round Rock ISD board of trustees on Aug. 18 adopted a resolution giving district employees additional paid leave in the event that they test positive for COVID-19.
District employees will be granted five additional paid leave days if they are subject to isolation orders for testing positive, self report their positive diagnosis through official means and submit appropriate documentation.
The extended leave benefit will not carry over into a district employee's next service contract, as it is tied to the 2022-23 budget year.
District documentation states the policy was proposed to the board in the interest of preventing the spread of COVID-19 among students and district employees. In 2021, the board approved an additional 10 days of leave in the event a district employee tests positive for COVID-19.
