On Sept. 1, Williamson County Commissioners Court approved an extension of the county's Opioid Emergency Response Pilot Project, which is overseen by the Williamson County Mobile Outreach Team. The contract between Texas Health and Human Services Commission and Williamson County has been extended through Dec. 21.

The court voted to take over the pilot's administrative needs from the city of Round Rock in July 2019. In October 2019, commissioners voted to contract directly with the THHSC to receive funding for the program.

The purpose of the extension approved Sept. 1 is to "alleviate contracting delays" within THHSC due to the coronavirus pandemic, per county documents.

THHSC representatives present at the Sept. 1 meeting said that resuscitations have been performed in the county within the past 10 days.

The program is anticipated to continue in Williamson County past December, as confirmed Sept. 1.
