Panoramic images of the first two chambers of a large cavern discovered under a Round Rock neighborhood earlier this year were released on Tuesday, giving the public a glimpse of the interior in what is known as Cambria Cavern.

Williamson County released the 3D mapping images of the cavern Tuesday. The mapping was conducted in May with a Trimble SX10 scanner.

"The technology is quite incredible. You can get a view of the cave as if you are standing inside of it and looking around," said County Engineer Terron Evertson in a press release.

The cave was discovered Feb. 8 in the 8400 block of Cambria Drive in Round Rock. Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District utility workers discovered the cave when investigating a water outage in the area.

The cavern is approximately 200 feet long and has four chambers varying from 22 to three feet in height.

Chasco Contractors began mitigation services Monday for the cavern, including replacing utilities and rebuilding the roadway.
