The planned closures of I-35 at Old Settlers Boulevard (FM 3406) and the Old Settlers Boulevard bridge across I-35 have been cancelled.

Crews were to finish lifting and placing beams for a new southbound to northbound U-turn bridge, currently under construction. The beam setting will be rescheduled.

A section of I-35 will close in Round Rock for two nights  next week. According to the city of Round Rock and the Texas Department of Transportation, crews will close I-35 at FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard) in alternating directions Sunday and Monday nights while cranes are used to lift and place large beams for a new southbound to northbound U-turn bridge, which is currently under construction. The FM 3406 bridge across I-35 will also close while the work is completed.

The I-35 lanes will be closed and traffic detoured to the frontage roads at exit 254 beginning at 9 p.m., with full closure from 11 p.m.-5 a.m. Aug. 6 and Aug. 7, weather permitting.

The closure will affect southbound lanes on Sunday night and northbound lanes on Monday night. In addition, both directions of FM 3406 over I-35 will close at 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday nights. The I-35 main lanes and FM 3406 will reopen daily as work is completed.

Drivers wishing to cross I-35 at FM 3406 during the closure will be detoured to RM 1431 or Hwy. 79.

Road signs are in place alerting of the closures. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes, as delays are expected.
