Three hours into its first meeting Monday night, the newly appointed Hutto Economic Development Corporation Type A board of directors limited the duties of President/CEO Tim Chase.

Chase, who was hired in August 2015, will not be able to engage in any activities on behalf of the Economic Development Corporation after a 7-0 vote of the board.

The board, appointed Thursday by City Council, includes chair Bill Gravell Jr., Bryon Borchers, Roger Harris, Jason Wirth, Russell Metcalf, Nelson Nagle and Daniel Thornton. The former board members were all removed at last week's council meeting.

After a lengthy executive session with attorneys and Hutto City Manager Odis Jones—during which time Chase was called into the room twice—the board offered its vote.

A special meeting of the Type A Board will be held 6 p.m. Aug. 1 to discuss final actions regarding Chase’s duties with the Hutto Economic Development Corporation.

Chase declined comment after the meeting.

Jones said he's excited about what the new board will bring to the city.

"The city is excited to move forward," Jones said. "This is the first of many steps to come. There are a lot more steps in the process and right now there is momentum."
