On Dec. 17, Round Rock City Council approved an economic development agreement with Airco Mechanical, an Austin-based heating, ventilation and air conditioning service provider in the process of relocating its headquarters to Round Rock. A Round Rock Chamber of Commerce spokesperson said the HVAC company transitioned to a 47,000-square-foot facility located off of I-35 this month with plans to renovate the building and create 365 new jobs.  As a relocation incentive the city offered Airco an initial payment of $190,000 and for seven years will reimburse half the city's 1 cent sales tax revenues from the company, according to the economic development agreement. "The new location is visible from the interstate, gives us easy access to toll roads, and room to grow in the future," Airco Mechanical General Manager Chip Chambliss said in a statement. "We are happy to be part of the Round Rock business community and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service to our Central Texas customers." In a statement Round Rock Chamber of Commerce representatives said the deal had been in the works for months. "We are excited to have Airco Mechanical relocate their headquarters to Round Rock," said Ben White, vice president of economic development for the Round Rock Chamber. "This is another win for Round Rock as it fills a vacant building and will bring over 400 jobs to the city."
