The annual Pflugerville Pfall Chili Pfest provided two kinds of heat—in terms of the chili served and the weather—Saturday. Thousands attended the downtown festival, with temperatures in the low 90s.
Sponsored by the city of Pflugerville and the Pflugerville Downtown Association, the daylong event featured arts; craft and food vendors; live music; the Heat Wave Car Show; and a Kids’ Zone with a petting zoo, face painters, a balloon artist and bounce houses.
The major draw was 32 teams competing for the top chili award, recognized by a team of judges.
The top 10 teams included:

People’s choice winners were Pflugerville Realty and Brotherton Barbecue as well as Pfrymire’s Chili
For the car show, the Judge’s Choice winner was Darryl McKinley’s 1970 Buick Skylark.
