Hutto ISD extended its cancellation of class and administrative operations through Feb. 4.

An early morning announcement on Feb. 3 states the extension comes due to a forecast of significant icing with a mix of freezing rain and sleet with bitterly cold wind chill temperatures, which will likely linger into Feb. 4 as temperatures remain below freezing.

The announcement states all activities, practices, rehearsals and games are canceled. Some athletic events will be rescheduled on Saturday morning, and athletes and parents should check in with their respective coaches.

Feb. 4 is designated as a staff nonwork day because they will have to make up the day April 15, according to the district.

Hutto ISD initially canceled classes and all other operations Feb. 3 in anticipation of dangerous conditions due to forecasted winter weather.

The district Feb. 1 issued a message on its website from Superintendent Celina Estrada Thomas stating HISD could remain closed through Feb. 4, depending on conditions.
