Hutto installed a new traffic light at the interserction of Limmer Loop and Exchange Boulevard as a part of a collaboration with Hutto Indepenent School District to improve the intersection.

The details

The Limmer Loop and Exchange Boulevard intersection improvements, which include a new traffic signal and an eastbound turn lane, are a part of Hutto's Capital Improvement Plan. The project will allow students to safely get to Cottonwood Creek Elementary School, according to city documents.

The update

The new traffic signal will become operational on the evening of Feb. 16. Before then, the signal will flash yellow, meaning drivers should slow down before entering the intersection and yield to pedestrians, bicyclists and other vehicles.

Some context

The city executed an agreement with HISD in June 2024 for the turn lane, which required a right-of-way designation from HISD property.

Construction on the $1.1 million project started last September and will wrap up Feb. 17, according to city documents.
