Pflugerville City Council approved four contracts for transportation projects at its meeting Dec. 10. The contracts will help further work for Kelly Lane phases one and two, road improvement projects, and the Weiss Lane widening project.
About the projects
Voter-approved bonds fund Pflugerville’s Kelly Lane improvements. The multiphase project will widen the road, which is already complete west of Falcon Pointe Boulevard. As of Dec. 6, Falcon Pointe Boulevard at Kelly Lane is closed for vehicle traffic and Vilamoura Street is open.
Phase two includes Falcon Pointe Boulevard to just east of Moorlynch Avenue, and phase three encompasses Moorlynch Avenue to Hodde Lane, with construction planned to wrap up in 2028.
The Picadilly Drive, Central Commerce Drive and Royston Lane improvement project will reconstruct and widen roads, as well as add street lighting, sidewalks, bike lanes and shared use paths.
“These roads are literally some of the worst roads we have in Pflugerville,” Place 4 City Council member Rudy Metayer said at the meeting.
The Weiss Lane project will widen the road from East Pecan Street to Pleasanton Parkway, and construction will wrap up in 2027.
The update
Council approved a $395,207 change order for Kelly Lane phase two and also extended the timeline to wrap up next year. The change order includes plans for four solar-powered traffic light beacons. Kelly Lane phase 3, which is not yet under construction, received a $1.2 million supplemental agreement for engineering.
For Picadilly Drive, Central Commerce Drive and Royston Lane, council approved a construction agreement for the project, totaling $15.1 million. Once under construction, the project will take just under two years.
Council set the Weiss Lane widening project in motion with a $1.05 million design and engineering contract with K Friese and Associates.
