Two capital improvement projects in Hutto to make road improvements on Limmer Loop and CR 137 are in the works.

A closer look

A project to add right and left turn lanes in both directions on FM 1660 and Limmer Loop is currently underway.

Improvements intend to reduce traffic delays and improve safety in the area, according to city documents. Construction began last September, but utility delays, which were completed in July, have pushed back the timeline.

Pavement will soon be installed, according to city engineer Matt Rector, which will then allow phase two to begin. Total project cost is an estimated $7,884,001.

What else?

The city of Hutto is also working with the Texas Department of Transportation to make progress on a project to improve CR 137 from FM 1660 to Brushy Creek.

The project is intended to improve safety and reduce delays by adding a lane to the site, according to city documents. Improvements to the FM 1660 and CR 137 intersection are also a focus.

Design on the project is 90% complete. City officials have received comments from TxDOT for review, including the need for a right-of-way donation agreement. The city will also need to submit a maintenance document in the plans that states it will maintain the new assets, a roundabout in the middle of the state-owned road.

Looking ahead

After the design is complete, construction is planned to start at the end of this year and be completed in December 2025. The estimated project cost is $19,846,681.
