Construction on phase 2 of the project to widen Kelly Lane in Pflugerville is roughly halfway complete, according to a city of Pflugerville announcement.

The details

The improvement project on Kelly Lane includes widening the previous two-lane roadway to four lanes and adding a roundabout on Vilamoura Street.

Beams for the bridge leading up to the roundabout have been delivered and installed, marking the project 48% complete. To finish out the phase, six beams will need to be delivered and installed for the construction of westbound lanes from Vilamoura Street to Moorlynch Avenue.

Phase 2 construction is expected to be completed in early 2025. This phase of the project is funded through 2018 voter-approved general obligation bonds.

Looking ahead

Phase 3 of Kelly Lane construction will extend improvements from Moorlynch Avenue to Weiss Lane. The intersection at Kelly Lane and Cele Road as well as the intersection at Weiss Lane and Hodde Lane will be realigned.

In addition to the road widening, there will be shared use paths and sidewalks on both sides.

This phase is currently still in design, with construction planned to start mid 2025. Funding for the design comes from 2018 certificate of obligation bonds and 2020 general obligation bonds.
