Motorists driving along Kelly Lane will likely need temporarily drive at lower speeds starting next year.

City information states work to improve Kelly Lane Phase 2 from Falcon Pointe Boulevard to Moorlynch Avenue is anticipated to begin in the spring and last for 18 months.

During a Nov. 9 meeting Pflugerville officials approved a first reading of an ordinance to reduce the speed limit from 40 mph to 30 mph along Kelly Lane work zones.

Council will likely officially approve the ordinance during a second and final reading Nov. 30.

The ordinance means drivers who violate limits within what the city categorizes as prima facie maximum speeds for construction or maintenance work zones may be charged with a class C misdemeanor.
