Improvements taking place at the intersection of Pecan Street and FM 685 will undergo a new phase of construction starting July 23.

With that phase will come new shifts in traffic patterns, according to information from the city of Pflugerville.

Among the changes at that intersection, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Pecan, and access to the H-E-B shopping center will be limited to the FM 685 and Old Austin-Hutto Road entrances only.

Motorists will also be able to make left turns from westbound Pecan onto Dessau Road.

The Pecan at FM 685 project is being completed through a partnership from the city of Pflugerville, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Pflugerville Community Development Corp.

The total cost of the intersection improvement is $4.3 million, with $2.3 million coming from a U.S. Department of Commerce grant. City information states the remainder of the funding is coming from TxDOT, PCDC, and the city of Pflugerville via certificates of obligation bonds and its general fund.

City information does not specify when the new traffic patterns and construction phase will conclude, but the entire project is estimated for completion in December, depending on weather.
