Central Texas nonprofit CommUnityCare Health Centers will open a new 15,000-square-foot health center in Pflugerville, replacing its current Pflugerville health center on Foothill Farms Loop.

The organization held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new center, located at 2700 W. Pecan St., Ste. 450, Pflugerville, on Oct. 20.

CommUnityCare provides an array of medical services at a reduced cost from 28 centers across Travis County, primarily for uninsured and low-income patients.

The scope of services CommUnityCare offers includes general primary care, dental care, pediatric care and behavioral health services.

CommUnityCare CEO Jaeson Fournier said the location for the new center was based in part on data that shows Pflugerville has an especially high number of residents who are uninsured or underinsured.

"[Pflugerville] has consistently been—from CommUnityCare's perspective—No. 1 or No. 2 of the highest-need ZIP codes in the area," Fournier said. "This is going to allow us to increase our footprint here in Pflugerville by threefold ... and be very accessible to our existing patients."

The new health center is expected to be ready to open in early 2023.
