Hutto City Council elected Place 2 City Council member Dan Thornton as the new Mayor Pro Tem at a June 26 meeting. Thornton secured the position in a 5-0 vote, with Place 1 council member Brian Thompson and Place 4 council member Peter Gordon absent.
The background Thornton moved to Hutto in 2010. He served on various Hutto boars and commissions beginning in 2017, before becoming a member of City Council in 2020.
Thornton replaces Gordon as mayor pro tem. The role involves performing the duties of the mayor in the case of their steed.
What they're saying
"Mr. Thornton has a lot of experience, not only with this council, but with a lot from the city," Place 5 council member Evan Porterfield said. "I just think he's a great candidate."
