Hutto offers economic incentive to a vacation rental in Historic Downtown

Hutto City Council approved a resolution at its meeting March 6 to allow a 100% tax reimbursement for a property renovation in Historic Downtown Hutto. The project would turn a historic building into a vacation rental.

The details

Project WelcomeMatt, a proposed historic renovation, allows developer Legendary Endeavors to convert a property in Historic Downtown Hutto into a short-term rental, according to the resolution. The estimated cost of the renovation is around $675,000.


As an economic incentive to the developer, the city approved a 100% reimbursement of hotel occupancy tax for 10 years, not to exceed $50,074. The resolution passed unanimously in consent, meaning no there was no discussion on the item.

Pflugerville names new multigenerational recreation center

Pflugerville City Council established the name of the new multigenerational recreation center at its meeting Feb. 25. The building is a part of the Downtown East project, an endeavor to create a new city center.


The specifics

Council voted 6 to 1 to approve "The Monarch" as the name for the new multigenerational recreation center, with Place 6 Council Member David Rogers voting against.

2 contracts progress Pflugerville pump station project

Pflugerville City Council passed two supplemental agreements for the SH 45 pump station discharge line project at its meeting Feb. 25. The additional contracts bring the project total to over $1 million.

What’s new

The $774,078 contract with Black & Veatch brings the total professional services contract to $1.1 million. A $378,405 supplemental contract with engineering firm CP&Y brings the engineering services to $428,095.

Hutto approves contract for water, wastewater rate study

Hutto City Council approved a contract to conduct a utility rate study at its Feb. 20 meeting. The city last reviewed water and wastewater rates in November 2021.

The details


Hutto requested a comprehensive water and wastewater rate study in December to independently assess the existing rates and provide recommendations for all customers.

City Council approved a three-year contact with Wildan Financial Services for $108,420.

What else?

The fiscal year 2024-25 budget included $52,500 for a water and wastewater rate study as a part of the utility fund. With council approval, the city will use $38,420 of the allocated money for the first year of the contract.
