Pflugerville residents will see an increase in their property taxes in fiscal year 2024-25, following City Council’s approval of the proposed rate in a 6-1 vote on Sept. 24.

The new tax rate of $0.5428 per $100 valuation amounts to about a $12 monthly increase for the average homestead.
Property tax is the largest revenue source for the general fund, which covers expenditures for general government, public safety, public works and community services. This rate was the proposed maximum and is 1.69 cents higher than the no-new-revenue rate.

Council also passed the corresponding $857.6 million budget for FY 2024-25, which was built “in direct response to the increased infrastructure and operational needs” of Pflugerville, according to city documents.
There are 100 capital improvement projects included in the budget. The CIP plan outlines Pflugerville's capital needs over the next five fiscal years. For the upcoming fiscal year, $342 million is allocated for general government capital projects, $124.4 million for water CIPs, $185.5 million for wastewater proejcts and $7.6 million for reclaimed water projects.
The city plans to utilize a mix of revenues, grants and bonded debt for infrastructure improvements.
The budget also includes utility rate increases to help fund capital improvement projects, amounting to a $7.50 base fee increase for water and $4 base fee increase for wastewater.
Pflugerville’s fiscal year begins Oct. 1, when all rate increases will go into effect.
