The city of Pflugerville set the maximum tax rate at $0.5428 per $100 valuation after a 5-1 vote at an Aug. 13 City Council meeting. The rate is 1.69 cents higher than the no-new-revenue rate.

The details

For the average taxable homestead valued at $364,433, this represents an annual increase of $143.49, or almost $12 a month. The fiscal year 2024-25 budget will focus on safety, economic development, infrastructure, parks, programs and services, according to city documents.

City Council could vote to accept a lower tax rate, but this figure represents the highest figure for the upcoming fiscal year. All council members were in favor of the proposed maximum rate of except Place 6 City Council member David Rogers.

Important dates

In the same vote, City Council set a public tax rate hearing as required by state law for Sept. 24, when members will also vote on the final approved tax rate. There is also a public hearing for the budget at the next council meeting Aug. 27.

Residents can submit public comments on both budget and tax rate, and can read more about the proposed budget on Pflugerville’s finance page.
