The city of Hutto has selected Cheney Gamboa as the new director of economic development.

The gist

Previously serving as the assistant director of the HEDC for over a year, Gamboa received recognition for her promotion at the Dec. 7 City Council meeting, among other city staff members.

“Cheney Gamboa was selected as certainly the best fit for Hutto. Her work ethic is just above and beyond,” City Manager James Earp said. “She's been an active community member here for years, and I just really don't see a Hutto without Cheney Gamboa for a long time.”


A closer look

Gamboa has years of experience, and education in business administration and management. City documents note her work on “many high-impact projects” for the area, such as her coordination of recent Megasite land deals.

Additionally, Gamboa is a sought-after speaker, according to city officials. She has been invited to present for a variety of groups ranging from Hutto ISD to the Texas Economic Development Council.

“I’m beyond honored to continue to serve my community in this role," Gamboa said in a news release. “We have an incredible team in the city of Hutto, and we are on a great path to execute on several major legacy projects for Hutto. I’m looking forward to supporting prosperity for Hutto well into the future.”


Gamboa lives in Hutto with her husband and three children. She is an active member of the community, volunteering with the local chapter of the Girl Scouts of America, Hutto ISD and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
