Hutto's new police chief, Jeff Yarbrough, swore into office at an April 21 City Council meeting.

Hutto conducted a monthslong search for a new police chief following former Chief Paul Hall's resignation in September and announced Yarbrough's selection for the position in March.

Yarbrough previously served as police chief of Round Rock ISD and has experience in the U.S. Army and as an investigator for the Texas attorney general's office.

Yarbrough takes over for Jim Stuart, who served as Hutto's interim police chief beginning in October.

"[Stuart] left some big shoes to fill, which I'm highly confident that Yarbrough will be able to fill," Mayor Mike Snyder said.
