Due to a water main break and prolonged loss of pressure on a Manville water line, Pflugerville residents will remain on a boil-water notice for at least two days, Dec. 15-16.

The contract manager for several of the water control and improvement districts involved, Natalie Arbour, told Community Impact that hopefully the precautionary boil-notice will be lifted tomorrow. The time-frame rests on when Manville will receive results from water samples taken.

Homes in the Blackhawk subdivision are affected, specifically the following water control and improvement districts, or WCIDs, as well as one municipal utility district, or MUD:
  • Lakeside WCID 1
  • Lakeside WCIDs 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D
  • Lakeside MUD 3
  • Kelly Lane WCIDs 1 and 2

Crossroads Utilities confirmed the water main break occurred around 2 a.m. Dec. 15, lasting until roughly 5 a.m.

A boil-water notice was issued by phone call and email starting at 7 a.m.

"Everything at this point has been restored," Arbour said. "As soon as we kind of knew where it was and getting all the details, that's when we rushed and started doing [notifications]."

The company has clarified that automated calls are utilized by the company regardless of hour in situations like these. However, in this instance the affected water control entities remained at the mercy of their wholesaler, Arbour said. The water main break occurred on the Manville line, rather than any lines managed by the WCIDs or MUD, thus taking time for information to be relayed.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires utility providers to notify customers within 24 hours.

Arbour noted that as soon as she was informed, around 7 a.m., she also reached out to any schools located in the affected area.

Residents in the Park, Lakeside Retreat, Estates and Ridge neighborhoods relayed on social media that some homes were seeing dirt in the water.

Manville has already taken water samples for testing. As a precaution, Crossroads issued a boil-water notice that will last for a couple of days while test results are confirmed. The company will update information on their website.
