Hutto ISD administrators shared a plan to combine multiple internal software platforms used for managing staff and student data in the next year and a half, consolidating eight different software platforms into one single enterprise resource platform.

What you need to know

In an Oct. 10 update provided to the board of trustees, Cara Malone, HISD's assistant superintendent to human resources, and Caleb Steed, HISD's chief financial officer, outlined how the switch would streamline internal processes for entering and managing employee data.

Per Steed and Malone, between their two departments, seven different staff members enter data into eight different software systems. By moving to a new software platform that encompasses all of the functions of the existing platform, district staff can both create efficiencies in data management and devote more resources to better support other departments, Malone said.

In their own words

"We have fantastic employees that do this hard work, but we know we can do it better—or more efficiently," Malone said.

What else?

Steed said the new software program will be compatible with Abre, a student data platform the district previously announced in September.
