The Hutto ISD board of trustess named Jeni Neatherlin as its sole finalist for the role of superintendent Aug. 6.

What you need to know

Trustees concluded its weekslong search for a new superintendent by naming Neatherlin as the sole finalist. In this search, the district received more than 25 applications to fill the position leading the district.

Neatherlin is currently the superintendent for nearby Granger ISD, also located in Williamson County, where she has served since 2021.

This comes just over three months after former Superintendent Raúl Peña resigned from his position in April.

What we know

Neatherlin has 23 years of experience as an educator, serving in executive, administrative, coaching and classroom roles in Salado ISD, Midland ISD and Llano ISD. She earned her bachelor's degree from Angelo State University and a master's of educational administration from Lamar University.

In their own words

With experiences in big and small schools, Neatherlin said she looks forward to working with the "phenomenal team" of HISD staff, should the board vote to finalize her hiring.

"Hutto has great, wonderful people—salt of the earth," Neatherlin said. "I am super excited to work with people who are committed to the hippo way, and to lead hippo nation and do it with love and care. I know that there is such a strong foundation here, and I'm just really excited to be a part of it and help lead them into the next phase."

What's next?

The board will meet again to vote on the hiring of Neatherlin Aug. 27, following a mandatory 21-day waiting period, Board President Billie Loguidice said.
