Hutto ISD Superintendent Raúl Peña resigned from his position April 25.

Seven months after he was hired to lead HISD as its next superintendent, Peña tendered his resignation to the board, which was accepted during an April 25 meeting.

The board named Cara Malone, assistant superintendent of human services, to serve as interim superintendent as the district begins the search for new permanent leadership.

Trustees approved leave for Peña when they accepted his resignation.


A reason for Peña's resignation was not provided by the district.

What's next?

The district will begin the process of searching for a new superintendent in the coming weeks, Board President Billie Logiudice said.
