Hutto ISD trustees approved pay raises for all staff members May 22, with teachers set to receive a 4% increase in their compensation for fiscal year 2024-25.

What happened

Trustees unanimously approved the following pay increases for staff as part of the FY 2024-25 budgetary process on May 22:
  • 4% general pay increase for teachers
  • 2% general pay increase for all other staff
These increases will allow the district to remain close to the market median. A Texas Association of School Boards compensation study shows the district's teacher pay based on experience closely tracks the market median, remaining only slightly below in FY 2023-24.

Trustees approved a 3% general pay increase for that year, as previously reported by Community Impact.

What they're saying

While the district was able to give higher compensation increases than some neighboring districts, trustees agreed the increase was not enough.

"It's not enough," trustee Amy English said. "It's really crucial that everyone understands that until we can get some leaders at the state level that prioritize ... adequately funding public education, we're not going to be able to do anything better."

What else?

The board is expected to vote on a final version of its budget, which will include these pay increases in its calculations, in June.
