Hutto ISD officials released four potential scenarios for leveled boundaries on Oct. 19 in anticipation of the opening of a new middle school.

What's happening?

District staff are working with community members and district demographers to adjust boundaries and rebalance zoning for its campuses in anticipation of a new campus opening in 2024. On Oct. 19, four potential options were shared with the Hutto community for feedback. Trustees will also provide feedback on these options on Nov. 9.

The details

Each model for attendance boundaries at the district's soon-to-be three middle school campuses—Hutto Middle School, Farley Middle School and Gus Almquist Middle School—comes with different balances for capacity.

In Plan 1, HMS would reach capacity during the 2028-29 school year and be the only one to do so at that time. In Plan 2, HMS would near—but not reach—capacity in the 2028-29 school year and be the only one to do so. Plan 3 would see FMS reach capacity in the 2027-28 school year and be the only one to do so; and Plan 4 would see all three campuses remain below capacity through the 2028-29 school year, according to projections provided by the district.
