Georgetown ISD hires Devin Padavil as Superintendent
Georgetown ISD officials concluded the search for a new superintendent Aug. 7 with the hiring of Devin Padavil.
What happened
The GISD board of trustees, absent Place 1 Trustee James Scherer, voted unanimously to hire Padavil to serve the district as the board's lone employee.
Career history
Padavil previously served as the superintendent for Taylor ISD, taking over the position in January 2021. He also worked as an assistant superintendent and area superintendent in Fort Bend ISD and Leander ISD, respectively. Prior to that, he held positions as an English and social studies teacher in schools throughout Texas.

Raul Pena was named lone finalist in Hutto ISD's search for a new superintendent Aug. 10.
What happened
HISD trustees voted unanimously to select Pena, Fort Worth ISD's chief talent officer, as the sole finalist in its superintendent search.
How we got here
In May, HISD Superintendent Celina Estrada Thomas announced her retirement, prompting a superintendent search guided by community involvement. She was first hired in 2017, seeing the district through a period of high growth and the COVID-19 pandemic.
What's next
The Hutto ISD board of trustees will vote on Pena's hiring Aug. 31, with a welcome event to follow.
