Hutto ISD's board of trustees will announce the selection of a lone finalist in its search for a new superintendent Aug. 10.

What's happening

In a video shared to the district's social media Aug. 3, HISD Board President Billie Logiudice announced that the decision will be announced at its next meeting. The board will hold a special meeting ahead of its regular meeting Aug. 10, where it will consider the selection of a finalist in its superintendent search before announcing any decisions made to the public.

How we got here

In May, HISD Superintendent Celina Estrada Thomas announced her retirement, prompting a superintendent search guided by community involvement. She was first hired in 2017, seeing the district through a period of high growth and the COVID-19 pandemic.

What else?

Once the board announces its selection of a future superintendent, the district must wait 21 days before making the hire official, under state law.
