A maximum price is set for the second phase of a project renovating and expanding Hutto High School following action from the Hutto ISD board of trustees.

At a Dec. 8 meeting, the board approved a $17.02 million guaranteed maximum price agreement with Chaney Cox Construction Inc. for Phase 2 of the project, which will encompass the bulk of the actual improvements.

Trustees previously approved a $2.72 million guaranteed maximum price for Phase 1, which includes preliminary work, such as replacing fire alarms and clocks.

Work covered under the guaranteed maximum price approved Dec. 8 includes the following:
  • Site work and parking expansions expected to be complete in September 2023
  • Band hall renovations and orchestra addition expected to be complete in October 2023
  • Two-story fine arts addition expected to be complete in July 2024
  • Site work at Chris Kelley Boulevard entrance expected to be complete in July 2024
Funding for the $19.4 million modernization project comes from a 2019 bond.
