Officials approved the name during a Dec. 16 meeting.
District documents state Hidden Lake Elementary, located off of Hidden Lake Drive, is about 18% complete and anticipated for completion in fall 2022.
Board member Cindy Gee also recognized three district students who have recently died and were suggested several times for the new campus name: Will Lucas, Danny Gladney and Chris Ratliff.
District staff said the names did not meet board policy for naming requirements, but Gee set in motion a possible amendment to that policy that could be considered at another meeting prior to closing out the agenda item.
"The committee would like to recommend ... to see if there are other ways to include names of students who have not realized their full potential," Gee said.
