The Hutto ISD school board approved a fiscal year 2021-22 tax rate of $1.4203 per $100 valuation at its Aug. 25 meeting.

The new rate is lower than the 2020-21 rate by $0.0462.

Despite the lower rate, HISD expects to see more tax revenue next year due to increased property valuations.

Broken down, the maintenance and operations portion is $0.9603, and the debt service, or interest and sinking portion is $0.46.

The board also approved an East Williamson County Higher Education Center Branch Campus maintenance tax rate of $0.04456, which is $0.00388 lower than the 2020-21 rate.
