A former Dessau Elementary School teacher is returning to the Pflugerville ISD campus to serve as the new principal.

PfISD announced May 10 that Teyan Allen, who has 20 years of experience in education, will be the school's new top leader starting this summer. Allen was a fourth grade teacher at Dessau from 2005-09.

"I am excited to return to Pflugerville ISD and particularly to Dessau Elementary," she said in a news release. "The four years I spent there were very special to me, and I look forward to returning and leading the campus and passionately serving our students, parents and staff."

She replaces former principal, Carolyn Parker, who served as leader since 2018. Dessau Elementary is located at 1501 Dessau Ridge Lane, Austin.

Allen earned her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University in 2001 and her Master of Educational Administration from Texas State University in 2009.

After working at Dessau, Allen also served for six years as the assistant principal of Spicewood Elementary School in Round Rock ISD where she was promoted to principal in 2018.

PfISD Superintendent Doug Killian said he is always happy to have former teachers return to the district.

"Teyan Allen has the experience that will help Dessau Elementary continue to grow academically," Killian said. "She is a great fit for this community, and I look forward to welcoming her back to Pflugerville."
