A Taco Casa is planned for Hutto along Ed Schmidt Boulevard across from Hampton Inn & Suites. Construction is expected to start in four to six weeks with an opening day toward the end of October or November, Kelly Franklin, president of Hutto's Taco Casa location, said.

Taco Casa specializes in fresh American-made ingredients, and their tortillas are fried in-house for hard taco shells. Franklin said the restaurant offers big portions for a good price.

The first Taco Casa opened in 1972 in Garland, Texas. Since then, there have been over 80 locations opened in Texas, with more in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Franklin said they were blessed to be able to get land in the fast growing city of Hutto, which will be the first Taco Casa in the Austin metro.

"We just see the expected growth of Hutto just to be really great in the future," he said. "It seems to be run correctly and we like that it's a suburb of Austin, so it just kind of caught our eye out of all the other places."
