Place 5 council member Melody Ryan pulled the item from the consent agenda four council discussion.
“I pulled this just because I would like to see the presentation with a price tag of $9 million,” she said.
About the project
The project includes installing over 10,000 feet of wastewater line, and 25 manholes from Jesse Bohls Drive to the Verona and Weiss Lane lift stations.
The work will decommission the Verona lift station, routing wastewater to the Wilbarger Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, currently under construction. Once the treatment facility finishes construction, the Weiss Lane lift station will also be decommissioned.
“Gravity is the best way to convey wastewater—[it’s] a lot more cost effective without the maintenance and liabilities associated with lift stations,” City Engineer Jeff Dunsworth said.
The project is funded by the Texas Water Development Board.
