Newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows both Hutto and Pflugerville added thousands of residents in the last five years.

The data also shows the age group with the greatest amount of growth in the area is adults ages 35 to 44 years old.

The U.S. Census Bureau released the American Community Survey five-year estimates for 2018-2023 Dec. 12, showing changes in the population of both cities as well as their demographics, among other population measures.

According to the bureau, ACS is used by local governments and communities to plan for the future, and guide the use of of public funds.


The details

Here's how Hutto and Pflugerville's populations have changed since the last time ACS data was released in 2018.

Over that five-year period, Hutto grew from an estimate population of 23,980 in 2018 to 32,188 in 2023, adding 8,208 residents.

In Pflugerville, the estimated population grew from 59,757 in 2018 to 65,162 in 2023, an addition of 5,405 residents.


When it comes to population by age groups, a majority of age groups in both cities saw growth, with the largest amount of growth estimated among 35- to 44-year-olds.

The exceptions are children under 5 years old; children ages 5 to 9 years old; adults ages 20 to 24 years old; adults ages 60 to 64 years old; and adults ages 75 to 84 years old.
