A set of amendments to Pflugerville's Lakeside Meadows development received approval from Pflugerville City Council.

The 400-acre mixed-use development is located south of Lake Pflugerville and is slated to include single-family residential, commercial, retail and industrial sections.

The amendments up for approval included several roadway adjustments, height requirement changes and the rezoning of approximately 61 acres of the development's corporate campus section to campus industrial, a designation that allows for warehouse-like buildings like the ones under construction at Lakeside Meadows.

Council considered the amendments at a previous meeting but postponed the item after several council members raised concerns, primarily over the rezoning to campus industrial.

The rezoning remained contentious when council considered the item again Feb. 8, but city staff pointed out the rezoning leaves approximately 32 acres of corporate campus area in the development.

Mayor Victor Gonzales said with a development as large as Lakeside Meadows, some flexibility is necessary.

"Even today, the design that you're showing us may not be the last version of it," Gonzales said. "To vote down one section of it and lose the whole project would probably not be the most prudent thing to do."

Ultimately, council approved the amendments in a 5-2 vote, with Council Members Doug Weiss and Ceasar Ruiz voting no.
