Editor's note: This story has been updated to include corrected numbers regarding close contacts and confirmed positive cases at Pflugerville ISD campuses.

Pflugerville High School and Riojas Elementary School will move to virtual-only instruction through Feb. 12, with in-person learning temporarily discontinued.

The closures have been attributed to the number of staff members forced to quarantine due to close contact cases, Pflugerville ISD spokesperson Tamra Spence confirmed Feb. 9.

From the week of Feb. 5, there were 512 total COVID-19 exposures across PfISD. PfISD has confirmed 41 positive cases from the week of Feb. 5.

The district announced the Riojas Elementary in-person closure in an email sent to campus parents late Feb. 7.

Pflugerville High School families were notified Feb. 8 of the move to 100%-virtual instruction.
