Design work may soon begin on a multigenerational recreation center planned as part of Pflugerville's downtown expansion.

At its June 28 regular meeting, Pflugerville City Council will consider a $337,290 contract with design firm FGM Architects Inc. for the project.

If approved, city materials indicate the first phase of FGM's work will include determining basic details such as the recreation center's size, programming and projected cost.

FGM is expected to move into the second phase in November, when it will create a full design for the project and handle construction administration.

Funding for the recreation center comes from a bond approved in 2020.
