Hippo Pharmacy, located at 107 East St, Ste. A, Hutto, closed permanently June 13. Owner Sajid Shaikh said via several social media posts that he could no longer run the pharmacy due to unexpected health challenges.



Gilbert Sarmiento, owner of Quick Pharmacy, located at 701 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock, said he has taken over services for customers of Hippo Pharmacy.

Sarmiento said he is not keeping the Hutto location open and does not know what the next business at that address will be. However, Quick Pharmacy is providing free deliveries to all Hutto customers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

"With the acquisition, we’re trying to make sure it is an easy transition as possible for Hutto patients," Sarmiento said.

Shaikh grew up in Boston and graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2009 before moving to Florida and then east Texas.

He moved to Hutto in 2018 and opened Hippo Pharmacy on East Street in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
