Owners Courtney and Bart Emken said in a Jan. 5 announcement via the DogBoy's website and social media they have sold their 15-acre property.
Courtney said a development company purchased the DogBoy's property in mid-December, along with property owned by two of their neighbors, to convert to single-family residential rental properties.
"It was not an easy decision to make as we love all of our employees, our clients and your dogs," the statement said. "After careful consideration, we believe this is the best decision for us. We want to thank you so much for your loyalty over the past years."
The Emkens will remain in the Austin area and continue to work in the industry, according to the statement.
In an email, Courtney added she and Bart "would like to thank the Pflugerville and Greater Austin community for the outpouring of love and support as we share the news, and over all, for the years we've called Pflugerville home."
