The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input for a 90-acre park planned for Georgetown's west side near Shell Road and Hwy. 195.

The department will host a public input meetingJan. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Georgetown Community Center, located at 445 E. Morrow St.

The city purchased 90 acres near Shell Road and Shell Spur in 2013 using revenue from the 2008 voter-approved bonds, according to a city news release.

The land includes portions of Berry Creek, and the park could include soccer and baseball fields, playgrounds, nature trails, picnic pavilions and natural areas, according to the release.

Input gathered at the meeting will be used to create a master plan for the park. It is expected to take about six months to complete.

According to the news release, construction on the project will depend on development and utility projects in the area as well as funding.
