The 9-mile stretch of 183 North undergoing construction between MoPac and SH 45 will will have a toll system in place for the north and southbound express lanes once construction is complete, pending a decision from the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, which handles transportation system improvements in Williamson and Travis counties.

The Mobility Authority plans to work out details regarding the toll system in their monthly board meeting Dec. 14. The board will consider an agreement with Electronic Transaction Consultants LLC for electronic toll collection design, installation, infrastructure, integration and maintenance services for 183 North Mobility Project and the 183A Phase 3 Project, which are under construction.

According to agenda documents from the upcoming board meeting, the toll collection system for the project will be all electronic. The cost of only the toll collection of the 183 North Mobility Project is expected to be $4.47 million and will have five open road tolling sites with two gantry stations on each if approved. The 183A Toll Phase 3 project is expected to cost $2.45 million with 10 toll sites and two gantry stations on each, the document shows.
