Survey work by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority continues the week of Aug. 2 along US 183 and MoPac in Northwest Austin as final design of the 183 North Mobility Project is now underway, according to a Mobility Authority public release.

Impacted areas include:
  • the left lane of the 183 southbound frontage road from Oak Knoll Drive to Duval Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 2-3;
  • the U-turn and left lanes of the 183 northbound frontage road from North Capital of Texas Hwy. to Great Hills Trail from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 2-3; and
  • the left lane of the 183 southbound frontage road from Springwood Springs Road to Oak Knoll Drive from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Aug. 2-3.
Also from Aug. 2-5, motorists should expect nightly frontage road lane closures on the southbound MoPac frontage road near Far West Boulevard and additional frontage road lane closures along southbound and northbound US 183 near RM 620, Balcones Woods Drive, Duval Road and Great Hills Trail.

Main travel lanes on MoPac and US 183 will be impacted near the US 183 and MoPac interchange. For a complete list of lane closures and times, review the Mobility Authority public release.

The 183 North Mobility Project is designed to relieve traffic congestion along 9 miles of US 183 from MoPac to SH 45. The project will construct two tolled express lanes running north and south. Also, an added nontolled lane will be constructed in each direction, bringing the total number of nontolled lanes to four in each direction, according to information posted on the Mobility Authority website.

Great Hills Constructors is due to begin the four-year project in early 2022, according to the Mobility Authority.
