Motorists driving on I-35 through North Austin should plan for nighttime lane closures this weekend and beyond.

Starting at 9 p.m. March 7, the Texas Department of Transportation will close northbound lanes on I-35 at the interstate’s intersection with US 183.

From March 7-10, TxDOT will reduce the main lanes on northbound I-35 to one lane from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The I-35 northbound frontage road will be closed at US 183 each night, with traffic detoured to the main lanes at the US 290 E. entrance ramp, according to a March 5 news release from TxDOT. All lanes and road closures are expected to reopen each morning by 5 a.m.

TxDOT will also close the northbound US 183 main lanes between the I-35 and Lamar Boulevard exit and the highway’s intersection with I-35. Motorists will be detoured to the US 183 frontage road and will be allowed to re-enter the main lanes at the next available entrance ramp.

The state agency said road signs have been set up with information about the closures. Read more information about the construction of flyovers at I-35 and US 183 here.
